This module provides detailed information on the nature and origin of elderly maltreatment and abuse. The authors explore the different aspects and forms of these two negative phenomena, as well as the effects and consequences they have on the adult person's life. The module will introduce the reader to different concepts, statistics, and scope of the problem, as well as the modern understanding of violence and abuse.
The module covers in-depth the various aspects of aging. The training content includes a description of the physical, mental, and social problems that reflect the old age. Focus is placed on the general well-being and basic needs of the old people in terms of the individual components of the concept of "quality of life". Within the module, the major difficulties related to neurological and vascular diseases, problems with the musculoskeletal system, various mental disorders, chronic diseases, etc. are being defined. A strong emphasis is placed on characterizing good care to ensure a normal lifestyle for the elderly. Quality of care means excellent knowledge and full application of the principles and ethical rules in providing support to the elderly.
The module focuses on the presentation of indicators tool for identifying potential elderly abuse and the behavioral signs of the various forms of violence. Within the module, specially designed forms will be presented that aim to assist professionals in identifying violence, registering it, and adequately directing future work to support the elderly. Case studies will be presented to illustrate various forms of violence with an emphasis on visible and masked acts of violence.
This module will introduce to the trainee what are the legal definitions of the elderly abuse according to the legislation of his country of residence and which are the main regulations that treat it. The module will present information about the reporting procedures, responsible institutions, and measures for the prevention and intervention of elderly abuse.

This module provides information about the current and widespread professional burnout syndrome, which for many social workers is one of the main reasons for their poor mental and somatic health, low levels of job satisfaction, reduced professional efficiency, etc. The main signs of the syndrome, as well as ways of ventilating the accumulated emotional tension, are indicated. Focus is also set on supervisory support as an effective approach to increasing satisfaction with social work, improving employee self-esteem, maintaining good quality standards, synchronizing united efforts on a specific case, preventing psycho-emotional work tense.
